Jake Lever requests a trade
Adelaide defender Jake Lever has officially asked to be traded from the club. Lever was speculated to be on his way out all season, with Melbourne looming as his likely destination. Lever is out of contract and the Crows have demanded two first round picks for the All-Australian squad member.
Steven Motlop tours Gold Coast facilities
Damien Barrett is reporting that Steven Motlop was spotted up on the Gold Coast touring their facilities and meeting with the club. Motlop is a free agent, but could still be a part of the Gary Ablett trade if he agrees to it. Port Adelaide is still very interested in acquiring the midfielder. Motlop is also a close friend with Gold Coast captain Steven May.
Tom Rockliff set to make a decision on future
Former Brisbane skipper Tom Rockliff is set to make a decision on his future with the club in the next day or two. Port Adelaide and Carlton appear to be the frontrunners for the midfielder and Rockliff is expected to let the Lions know of his choice before the end of the week.
Matthew Kennedy nominates Carlton
GWS midfielder Matthew Kennedy has officially nominated Carlton as his destination club in the upcoming trade period. Kennedy is seeking more opportunity at the Blues. Fellow Giant Devon Smith is also on the Blues’ radar.
Jack Watts yet to nominate new club
Jack Watts spoke to the media today, saying he was surprised and shocked by the Demons telling him he needed to find a new home in 2018. Sydney and Port Adelaide have been linked to the former number one draft pick, but Watts didn’t comment on any potential suitors today.
Possibility of Rory Sloane returning to Victoria
Rumours of Rory Sloane’s desire to return to Victoria have circled and the NAB Trade Radio team gave their thoughts:
“My feeling is that if there was a significant offer from a Victorian club I think he would look at it, just because of his family ties back in Victoria and his wife Belinda is from Victoria and you’d be looking for a mega deal I think at that stage of your career when you’re 27 years of age,” Kane Cornes said.
“I’d bet my house on Sloane being at Adelaide this year,” said Dwayne Russell.
Blake Caracella enters the race for Gold Coast job
Mitch Cleary is reporting that Richmond assistant coach Blake Caracella is now in the race for the senior job at the Gold Coast Suns. John Barker and Stewart Dew are still the frontrunners for the position.
Josh Schache not leaving Brisbane
Schache’s manager David Trotter is very confident his client will remain with the Lions in 2018. Schache re-signed with the club earlier in the year and despite interest from Victorian clubs, will be returning to the Lions next year.
