Matthew Kennedy has officially requested a trade from the GWS Giants to Carlton.

It was reported on AFL.com.au earlier today that the 20-year-old wants to leave the Giants for the Blues and his management has now confirmed the news.

David Trotter from McDonald Sports & Talent Management told NAB AFL Trade Radio: “Matty has requested a trade to Carlton.

“It’s obviously up to the clubs to get the deal done.

“Hopefully SOS (Blues list manager Stephen Silvagni) and Craig Cameron (Giants list manager) can sit down in the coming days and sort that out.

“It’s a situation where we have never seen the depth of talent that’s up there.

“It’s more an opportunity for Matt. They had some big re-signings (Josh Kelly, Lachie Whitfield and Jacob Hopper) late in the year that forced them not to be able to offer Matt a contract.”

Asked if he expects a deal to happen, Trotter added: “Carlton seem to have a few things going on so that’s up to Craig and SOS to work out but I’m sure they can get something done.”

Kennedy was selected by the Giants with pick 13 in the 2015 draft and has played 19 AFL matches over two seasons.
