Carlton coach Brendon Bolton insists Jacob Weitering will operate as a defender in 2018.
The 20-year-old was drafted as a Centre Half-Back but at times last season found himself playing in the forward line for the Blues.
However, Bolton has made it clear that his desire is to settle Weitering in a key defensive post rather than swing him from end to end.

“We’ve always thought that he’s a defender as his start point,” he said on Sportsday.
“We just had a need in that period of time but I’m more reluctant with a guy in their first few years to just swap him around anywhere.
“I like them to establish a position first. He’s trained really strongly with Cam Bruce this year in the defence and that’s where he’ll start.”
