‘I’ve been knocking on Horse’s door’ – Sydney young gun Heeney

Isaac Heeney is determined to push into Sydney’s star-studded midfield in 2018.

Heeney has revealed that he has been making a point to remind Swans coach John Longmire of his midfield ability having stepped up his disposal average from 16.6 to 20.6 per game last season.

The 21-year-old has also worked hard on his fitness over the summer and is now primed to join the likes of Josh Kennedy, Dan Hannebery, Luke Parker and Kieren Jack more regularly in the middle of the ground for the Swans.
“I’ve been knocking on Horse’s door just saying ‘get me in there, give me a crack’,” he told Sportsday Central.

“He’s been really good with that and I’ve worked on my tank this off-season so I can push into the midfield a little bit more.

“I’ll continue to knock on Horse’s door and just say ‘get me in there!’.”

“(But) we’ve got a pretty impressive midfield so whether I play up forward or in the guts, it doesn’t really bother me to be honest.”
