Ablett “100%” to play round one

Gary Ablett will play in the round one clash against Melbourne, his manager Liam Pickering has confirmed.

“He is very confident,” he told SEN Breakfast.

“100 percent I think he will play.

“My understanding talking to him is he will play round one.

“He was half a chance to play on Sunday, and of course the Cats were smart being conservative.

“Another two weeks on that hammy, it will be about a five-weeker.

“He will be fine by then.”

Ablett has been battling a minor hamstring strain over the past fortnight, putting some doubt over his status for round one.

However, he will play in the season opener, but questions remain over whether or not fellow star Patrick Dangerfield will appear in the contest.

Geelong’s season begins on Sunday week against the Demons.
