Western Bulldogs midfielder Emma Kearney has taken out the Women’s Footy Tyrepower player of the year award with 21 votes.
Kearney had a brilliant season, leading the competition for disposals per game with 19, second for clearances with five and in the top five for both uncontested and contested possessions.
Her speed and ability to break from contests separated her from other high-disposal winning midfielders, but she also had the grunt to win tough clearances.
Kearney edged out GWS vice-captain Alicia Eva whose one-vote final round wasn’t enough to match the Bulldogs midfielder’s best on ground performance.
Brisbane defender Kate Lutkins, Melbourne captain Daisy Pearce and fellow Bulldogs midfielder Ellie Blackburn rounded out the top five, with a number of players tied for sixth.
