Sydney’s Franklin to miss again, Essendon hit by injury blow

Sydney coach John Longmire has ruled out Lance Franklin for this Saturday’s clash with Fremantle.

Franklin hasn’t played since the Swans’ Round 5 loss to Adelaide, after it was revealed he has been battling the heel issue since Round 1.

The 31-year-old has kicked 18 goals in five appearances this season.

The bad news at Essendon continues, with SEN Time On host Sam McClure reporting star defender Michael Hurley has suffered a hamstring injury.

“The news doesn’t get any better for Essendon, who play Geelong this weekend…they won’t have Michael Hurley playing for them,” McClure told SEN’s KB and The Doc.

“I think he has done a hamstring.”

Hurley struggled in the loss to Carlton last weekend, amassing 17 disposals at 76 percent efficiency, while applying just one tackle.

The dual All-Australian is averaging 25.6 disposals per game this season, while recording a contested defence loss percentage of 45.8 percent.

The Bombers will look to revive their season against Geelong on Saturday afternoon at the MCG.
