AFL games record holder Brent Harvey believes veteran midfielder Michael Barlow should seek a new home next year.
Barlow has only played one game this season for Gold Coast and Harvey sees a Victorian club that could use him.
“I think he suits Essendon because they need an inside midfielder,” Harvey told Future Stars.
“He’s a big body and I think that would help the Essendon Football Club.”
“Why isn’t he getting a game at Gold Coast? Six tackles says he should be playing.”
Former Western Bulldogs forward Nathan Brown agreed, bringing up his state-level form.
“He’s averaging 41 disposals over in the NEAFL and he would be very good at a few clubs I reckon,” Brown said.
Another player struggling for opportunity is Melbourne utility Cam Pederson and Brown believes teams will be circling him too.
“I reckon a lot of clubs would be looking at a Cam Pederson,” he said.
“He’s always a bit-part player, but when he comes in to do a job, he generally gets the job done.”
Future Stars panellist Callum Twomey agreed and named a few teams that could benefit from his services.
“It’s that versatility that would be appealing for clubs on the verge finals knowing they’ve got him to come into their depth,” Twomey said.
“Collingwood to me would be a good fit because he can play forward, take a mark and kick a goal.
“We saw Jack Riewoldt go down with concussion and Josh Caddy was their next best tall option, could he come in to the Tigers and be that backup option?”
Pederson has replaced Jake Lever in Melbourne’s side for the Queen’s Birthday Monday clash with Collingwood.
