St Kilda have been dealt a huge double injury blow ahead of their clash with Port Adelaide.
Josh Bruce is set to miss the remainder of the season with a broken leg, while Jake Carlisle has been ruled out of this week’s match against the Power after sustaining a minor puncture to his lung.
Bruce collided with a teammate in a marking contest at training today, fracturing his fibula.
Carlisle suffered a complication in the treatment of his rib injury which led to a minor puncture.
“There is a small risk in treating rib injuries that this type of complication can occur,” St Kilda GM Simon Lethlean told the Saints’ official website.
“We’d love to have them both out there this weekend but the reality is they won’t be, and we will need guys to step up and fill the void.
“We have seen a host of young players take their opportunity over the course of the season, and we need this to continue this week.”
