Australian Football Hall of Famer Terry Wallace believes Sydney duo Gary Rohan and Nic Newman deserve to get a new chance at a second club.
Rohan has already requested a trade back to Victoria, with Geelong reportedly in the box seat to secure his services, while the Herald Sun’s Sam Edmund revealed on SEN Breakfast three months ago Newman is “unhappy” at the Swans.
“I think Gary Rohan and Nic Newman both need new homes, new opportunities, new challenges to see whether they can get their games to another level,” Wallace told The Match Committee.
“Both have got ability, but haven’t been able to do it with any form of consistency.”
Rohan played 11 senior games this season, his lowest total since 2013, while Newman also made just 11 appearances, after playing in 20 matches last year.
Defender Jake Lloyd is another Swan who has been mentioned in trade rumours, but Wallace thinks the club can’t let him walk.
“They can’t afford to let Jake Lloyd go, he is just too good of a player to be letting him go,” he said.
