What can Hawks learn from Round 4 win over Demons?

Three-time Hawthorn premiership player Terry Wallace says the Hawks should use their 67-point Round 4 win over Melbourne as a blueprint for success in tonight’s Semi-Final.

While acknowledging the match took place back in Round 4, Wallace thinks Hawthorn coach Alastair Clarkson would be telling his players to bring the same intent and pressure they did against the Demons last time.

“The combative nature of the Hawthorn Football Club, the way that they’ve been able to take things off other sides in the past, I think would be one of his key messages,” Wallace told The Match Committee.

“Even go back to the last time they played them, we know there are so many differences between who is in the side and who is not, but 113 tackles to 74.

“They took something away from Melbourne the last time they played, albeit Round 4.

“They had 20 tackles inside 50 to eight and Melbourne couldn’t handle it.

“That’s the thing they would be putting up and trying to challenge the Demons to see if they can handle it this time around.”
