Herald Sun journalist Sam Edmund has revealed that Hawthorn are firming as the favourite to land Port Adelaide star Chad Wingard.
Wingard’s future has been the topic of much discussion in recent times, with Edmund reporting last week that the Power have given the dual All-Australian the green light to shop himself around to rival clubs.
When asked on SEN Breakfast whether the Hawks are in front of the Western Bulldogs in the race for the 25-year-old’s signature, Edmund replied: “Yes, I think so.”
“They’re having a real crack here Hawthorn and they’re actually pretty confident.
“It’s unknown what Port Adelaide are going to want the other way, the whisper is the Hawks have made a real attractive offer – maybe four years with a trigger for a fifth.
“It could go to either club to be honest, I’m not going to lie and say he is an absolute certainty to get to Hawthorn.
“But they really, really want him.”
Wingard still has a year to run on his current deal with the Power.
