Sydney Swans chief executive in waiting Tom Harley has given updates on a number of players who are being touted this trade period.
Speaking on NAB AFL Trade Radio’s The Early Trade, Harley spoke of Collingwood’s Darcy Moore and his club’s reported interest.
“It has progressed too much beyond that (preliminary discussions),” he said.
“I think it’s important to be respectful of the clubs that are competing and Collingwood obviously competed until Saturday.
“We will make a decision today or tomorrow whether we want to progress that. There’s nothing to report in that front.
“No (there’s no offer).”
The Swans have been linked with a straight swap trade involving Nic Newman and North Melbourne’s Ryan Clarke which Harley also gave some insight on.
“We did that (met with Clarke). We had a good discussion with Ryan,” he continued.
“We’ve got an interest there for sure. He’s not a free agent so that would need to be a trade.”
Regarding Newman specifically, Harley added: “We are aware that Nic has been to North Melbourne.
“Exactly the same situation with Ryan that North let us know that was on the cards.
“Nic’s out of contract at the moment with us and we are working through list spots and we haven’t made our major cuts into our list at this stage.
“We want to keep all those options open but we are certainly aware of North Melbourne’s interest.”
Harley also confirmed that Sydney have held a meeting with Melbourne’s Aaron vandenBerg.
“We’ve had a discussion with Aaron,” he added.
“He’s a player who is out of contract and we have an interest in.
“There’s nothing really concrete with us at the moment. Aaron is a player of interest.”
