Essendon champion Matthew Lloyd has ranked his Top 5 free agents.

Speaking on NAB AFL Trade Radio’s The Early Trade, Lloyd looked at his top players since free agency commenced in 2012.

5. Nick Dal Santo – St Kilda to North Melbourne

“Played 62 games for North in three years. Super player. Brad Scott moved him on very surprisingly.”

4. Shaun Higgins – Western Bulldogs to North Melbourne

“What a good player he’s been. 74 games in four years and an All-Australian.”

3. Brendon Goddard – St Kilda to Essendon

“Was a free agent in the first in 2012. 127 games for Essendon. He won the Best & Fairest in 2013, second in 2017 and third in 2014.”

2. Eddie Betts – Carlton to Adelaide

“This one has haunted Carlton for a long, long time. 111 games, All-Australian in 2015, ’16 and ’17, 273 goals in that period.”

1. Lance Franklin – Hawthorn to Sydney

“108 games for the Swans, 337 goals. All-Australian in 2014, ’16, ’17 and the captain this year in 2018.”
