Geelong Falcons Talent Manager Michael Turner believes potential No.1 Draft Pick Sam Walsh could be the best player to come through his program, ahead of some of the all-time AFL greats.

“We’ve already had seven AFL captains come through the Falcons and he’s probably in front of any of them at that age,” Turner said on NAB AFL Trade Radio.

The list of talent includes Cameron Ling, Jonathan Brown, Luke Hodge, Travis Boak, Nick Maxwell, Gary Ablett Jnr and Matthew Primus.

Turner has huge wraps on the ready-made midfielder, and despite the Falcons producing plenty of superstar talent in recent years, he says the 18-year-old could be the best of the lot.

“He’s just a no-risk player,” Turner said.

“He’s the best prepared player I think I’ve ever seen.”

Walsh is an elite runner and a strong leader, making him a reliable option for the first pick in the draft.

“I think for Carlton when they’re weighing up their options, he’s going to be a 10 to 15-year player,” Turner said.

“He’s a very professional young man.

“He’s got time for everyone and nothing seems to phase him.”

The 2018 AFL National Draft will begin on Thursday, November 22.
