There could be up to a dozen Thursday night games in the 2019 home-and-away season, according to the Herald Sun’s Sam Edmund.
There were seven Thursday night contests in the 2018 home-and-away campaign, with another one in the finals series.
However, we are set for a large upswing in the timeslot next year.

“I hope the SEN family loves Thursday nights because we are going to see a heap more of them next year…we might have as many as a dozen next year,” Edmund told SEN Breakfast.
“The reason that’s a possibility is because the AFL players have finally approved the five-day breaks for clubs.
“Each team will have one five day break for the season and that makes it a possibility to schedule more Thursday night games and better teams on a Thursday night.”
