Dean Kent has officially been traded to St Kilda, with Melbourne receiving pick 65 in return.
Kent made just five senior appearances for the Demons this season due to injury.
“Dean has shown his ability at AFL level, but unfortunately injuries have impacted his continuity over the years,” Melbourne footy boss Josh Mahoney told the club’s website.
“Whilst we were keen to keep Dean and offered him a contract, we understand the security that a longer-term offer presents, and we are glad that he has an opportunity to extend his AFL career.”
The 24-year-old played a total of 63 games for Melbourne.
