The AFL has put asterisks next to the Round 9 Saturday night clash between Essendon and Fremantle and the following days Port Adelaide versus Gold Coast game.

This is to accommodate for the A-League Grand Final, should it end up being in Melbourne.

The potential of a Melbourne Victory Grand Final at Marvel Stadium means the AFL is willing to swap the two games around, moving Essendon’s home game to the Sunday.

The AFL released the following statement on the decision.

“Date and time of these matches subject to change, pending availability of Marvel Stadium for the A-League Grand Final should Melbourne Victory qualify to host that game.”

“A decision will be made prior to tickets going on sale for this game and, if Marvel is unavailable, the two matches marked with an * will swap days/times (applying local times as applicable).”
