North Melbourne ruckman Todd Goldstein says it will be a “nightmare” to pick a best 22 for the Kangaroos this season, such is the depth of talent in their squad.

The Roos bolstered their squad during the offseason, acquiring Aaron Hall, Jared Polec, Jasper Pittard and Dom Tyson, and Goldstein believes it has created a healthy battle for spots in the Round 1 squad.

“It’s obviously hard initially, you got to get to know them,” Goldstein told SEN Breakfast.

“I feel like Aaron Hall is a big personality and they bring different attributes to the game.

“It was about learning what their strengths are and what their weaknesses are, so we can work with them.

“All those guys have fit in really well.

“It’s going to be a nightmare to pick a 22, which is what you want.

“It’s really competitive at the club at the moment.

“We have a dozen midfielders that feel like they deserve a Round 1 spot and there’s only half a dozen that can play.

“That breeds a strong sense of work ethic at the club and hopefully pushes the group up further.”

North Melbourne begins their 2019 campaign against Fremantle in Perth on March 24.
