Former Gold Coast co-captain Steven May will play his first official game for Melbourne, joining a host of stars who are set to return for the Demons’ next JLT game against Brisbane.

May has recovered from a hamstring issue and will play in defence against the Lions at Casey Fields.

After going down to the Tigers by two goals, the Demons could welcome back co-captains Jack Viney and Nathan Jones as well as Jake Melksham, who have all overcome injuries.

Rested players Max Gawn, Michael Hibberd, Neville Jetta, Aaron Vandenberg and Jordan Lewis are also in the mix to return to the Demons line-up.

Each of these players will either return at AFL or VFL level.

However, small forward Jeff Garlett won’t be joining them after being ruled out of the Lions clash.

Garlett suffered a shoulder injury that will place him on the sidelines for at least two weeks.
