Silvagni should seek a trade from Carlton on one proviso: Lyon

Jack Silvagni should seek trade away from Carlton if he can’t lock down a permanent spot by the end of the year, according to Garry Lyon.

AFL reporter Tom Morris told Fox Footy’s On The Couch that Blues insiders believe that leaving the club might be the best thing for Silvagni’s career moving forward.

The 21-year-old utility has played 43 games for Carlton after debuting in 2016 but is yet to feature at AFL level this season.

“If Jack (Silvagni) can’t shore up a spot in the Carlton senior team by the end of the year… he’s played half-back, he’s played a bit at half-forward,” Lyon told SEN Breakfast.

“If he can’t get a permanent position in that Carlton team by the end of the year – a Carlton team that’s struggling and that’s going to continue to develop and struggle – then it would be time to seek opportunity elsewhere.”

Silvagni followed his father (Stephen) and grandfather (Sergio) in donning the Carlton jumper when selected with pick No.53 in the 2015 AFL Draft.

Stephen is the Blues' current list manager and is regarded as one of club's greatest players.
