St Kilda’s prized recruit Dan Hannebery is nearing a return to football via the VFL, according to SEN Time On host Sam McClure.
Hannebery is yet to feature for the Saints in 2019 after being struck down by hamstring and calf injuries during the pre-season.
The three-time All-Australian will line up for St Kilda’s VFL affiliate next weekend if he can get through training over the next fortnight.
“Dan Hannebery is nearing a debut for the Saints … at least in the VFL,” McClure told SEN’s Time On.
“If he gets through training this week and next week, he’ll play for the Saints’ VFL affiliate against Coburg next weekend.”
Hannebery, 28, arrived at Moorabbin from Sydney on a lucrative long-term contract during last year’s trade period.
The midfielder stepped away from the club’s leadership group in March in order to focus on returning to full fitness.
