“Wouldn’t be doing anything different”: Bombers defend Daniher management

Essendon GM of Football Dan Richardson has defended the club’s management of injured star Joe Daniher.

Daniher, 25, has been ruled out for the remainder of the season after re-injuring his troublesome groin that sidelined him for a large chunk of 2018.

The All-Australian forward made a shock return against North Melbourne on Good Friday, despite not being named as an emergency.

When asked whether Daniher was rushed back for the Good Friday match on SEN's Whateley, Richardson replied: “Absolutely not".

“If we had our time again … we wouldn’t be doing anything different.

“It’s easy in hindsight to look back and say: ‘We could have done something different’, but we were really confident our medical team have been extremely thorough.

“Injuries do reoccur at all levels.

“Once you get back playing and get a few games under your belt, that’s where the injury has flared up again.”
