Stratton learns Tribunal fate after pinching and stomping charges

Ben Stratton has copped one week bans for both stomping and pinching from the AFL Tribunal – all up, two weeks on the sidelines.

The Hawthorn captain has received heavy criticism this week after leaving bruises all over Essendon forward Orazio Fantasia’s arm after constant pinching during the game.

He then stomped on Shaun McKernan’s foot during a scuffle, which could have resulted in serious injury.

Stratton pleaded guilty to both cases, with the AFL calling for a one-match ban for the pinching and another one for the stomp.

Hawthorn meanwhile argued for two fines, rather than two one-game suspensions.

He will now miss Hawthorn’s matches against Sydney and West Coast.
