“Just a matter of time” before St Kilda “pull the trigger” on Richardson

Alan Richardson’s tenure as St Kilda coach could be over as early as this weekend.

That is according to AFL.com.au’s Mitch Cleary who feels a heavy loss to Geelong at GMHBA Stadium on Saturday night may signal the end between the Saints and Richardson.

“It might even be Sunday should it not go to plan for them down in Geelong tomorrow night,” Cleary said on SEN’s The Captain’s Run.

“Alan Richardson needs a solid performance (from the Saints), otherwise things could get ugly on Sunday.

“I think as much as the industry is talking about Alan Richardson’s short tenure that remains at the Saints, he’s well aware of it as well.

“He won’t be there next year and I think it’s now just a matter of time when the Saints pull the trigger on their senior coach.

“If we are looking at a 10-goal plus loss against the Cats on Saturday night, they might have a new coach come Monday.”

The Saints head into the Round 17 against the top-of-the-table Cats on the back of a three-game losing streak which has them sitting 15th on the ladder.
