John Longmire is set to re-sign with the Sydney Swans, knocking back a big deal to take the North Melbourne coaching job according to a report.
The Herald Sun believes Longmire will remain in Sydney, extending his contract beyond next season.
Sportsday’s Caroline Wilson reported last week that the Swans coach would sign an extension by the end of July.
North Melbourne interim coach Rhyce Shaw is now the frontrunner to get the job, according to the Herald Sun.
The Kangaroos take on Essendon at Marvel Stadium on Saturday afternoon and a win could see them on the verge of the top eight.
They parted ways with coach Brad Scott after Round 10, with the club sitting 14th on the ladder and three games out of the eight.
