The MEGT Australia Rookie of the Year race is back for the 2019 season, where our AFL Nation experts will pick the first-year players or those on debut who impressed us during the previous round of footy.

Here are the nominees for Round 21.

Jye Caldwell

On debut, Caldwell impressed for the Giants early and finished with 13 disposals, six tackles and five marks in the loss to Hawthorn.

Kyle Dunkley

Dunkley has impressed consistently in his opportunities at AFL level. He picked up 13 disposals and 10 marks.

Connor Rozee

Rozee remains one of the favourites for the MEGT Australia Rookie of the Year award and booted three goals in the win over Sydney.

Jack Lukosius

Lukosius continues to use the ball well for the Suns down in defence, gathering 16 disposals at 81 per cent disposal efficiency on the weekend.

Bailey Smith

Smith cashed in on the big win over Essendon, finishing with 23 disposals and a goal in the 103-point win.

Gryan Miers

Miers led the way against the Roos, booting three goals, gathering 17 disposals and taking seven marks in the impressive performance.

Nick Hind

Hind finished with 17 disposals and five marks in the win over Fremantle and continues to provide a pacey option inside 50.

Jack Ross

Ross was excellent in his first game back in the team after 11 weeks on the sidelines. He finished with 21 disposals and seven tackles in the win over Carlton.
