Richmond gun Sydney Stack could miss the rest of the season after suffering a possible syndesmosis injury in the VFL yesterday.
Stack clutched his ankle after going hard into a contest, forcing him to leave the field and re-emerge in crutches following his side’s 12-point win over Essendon.
The 19-year-old will undergo scans but VFL coach Craig McRae was fearful about the extent of the damage after the game.
"It's an ankle injury but it's too early to diagnose the extent of it, whether it's a syndesmosis I’m not sure," he said.
"But it doesn't look good, he's on crutches so I would have thought he's in doubt for the short term.
"He went into a contest, he said, and went to bump the bloke and I think his ankle became unstable. Time will tell."
Richmond takes on West Coast at the MCG today in a battle between the 2017 and 2018 premiers.
