Star Essendon trio Dyson Heppell, Michael Hurley and Orazio Fantasia will have a slow start to 2020 as they all recover from pre-season surgeries.
The Herald Sun is reporting that all three aren’t expected to be back in full training until the new year.
The Bombers skipper battled a left foot injury throughout the second half of the season and he will have surgery in the coming days.
Hurley underwent a shoulder reconstruction on Monday after dislocating his shoulder in Round 23.
The star defender bravely played through it in Essendon’s Elimination Final loss to West Coast.
Orazio Fantasia meanwhile will have a hip arthroscopy and isn’t expected back until January.
He has previously been touted as a player who could request a trade back to South Australia.
David Zaharakis (syndesmosis), Matt Guelfi (meniscus) and Martin Gleeson (ankle) will also go under the knife, but are expected back before 2020.
