Lethlean says Hill was always in the Saints' sights

St Kilda list manager Simon Lethlean told SEN Breakfast that getting Brad Hill to Moorabbin was a priority of the Saints for some time.

Hill was yesterday confirmed to be heading to St Kilda, with the Saints handing over picks 10, 58, Blake Acres and a future second and fourth round pick for Hill.

"He has two years to go in a contract so we certainly inquired early," Lethlean said.

Lethlean said Hill "was always the target" and that the Dougal Howard trade would not have happened if the Hill deal did not go through.

"We weren't going to do the (Dougal) Howard deal if we weren't going to be able to pick up Hilly," Lethlean said.
