Tarkyn Lockyer will succeed Luke Power as head coach of the AFL Academy.

Lockyer will leave his role at Collingwood to assume his new position at the AFL in late November.

Lockyer was the Magpies' Academy coach, a position he fulfilled since 2017.

The 40-year-old takes the reins after Power joined Carlton as a development coach on a three-year deal in October.

Lockyer played 227 games for Collingwood after he was elevated off the club’s rookie list.

He took charge of Collingwood's VFL side in 2011 before moving into a midfield development coach in 2013.
