North Melbourne have handed former Brisbane Lions defender Josh Walker a lifeline, signing him as a delisted free agent.
The 27-year-old, who has played 85 games for Brisbane and Geelong, will land at Arden Street on a one-year deal.
After playing most of his career up forward, he spent this year playing down back in his final season at the Brisbane Lions.
Walker said he was always optimistic a third club would look to give him an opportunity at senior level.
“I definitely thought I’d get another crack at it somewhere,” he told nmfc.com.au.
“I definitely feel like I still have a lot to offer so I suppose you’ve got to be optimistic.
“I always was hopeful that something would work out and was lucky enough; North were great about it and couldn’t be happier with how it’s worked out.”
