After a 2019 filled with constant speculation about the future of certain AFL coaches, ultimately resulting in five sackings, 2020 seems as though it will be a quieter year on that front.
Despite that, coaches will still be under pressure to perform in 2020 and Nick Dal Santo believes Melbourne’s Simon Goodwin is at the top of that list.
The Demons finished 17th on the ladder in 2019 following their top-four performance the year before.
“I think it is Simon Goodwin (who is under the most pressure),” Dal Santo told SEN Breakfast.
“This is even just from getting feedback from Melbourne supporters as we are having conversations about football clubs.
“I think he signed a three-year deal at least last year so he’s got a length of term left on his contract, but this is a results based business and the results last year weren’t pretty.
“I think he is under pressure and the spotlight will be on him, but even more so, the playing group needs to take a huge amount of responsibility.”
The Dees go into 2020 with the third easiest fixture, per Champion Data.
