David King has named his AFL Rising Star prediction for the 2020 season.
The number one pick in the draft Matt Rowell goes in as the favourite at this early stage, followed by teammates Izak Rankine and Noah Anderson.
King believes second-year St Kilda forward Max King will slot into the team and win the award.
“Max King will be a star,” he told SEN Breakfast.
“I’ve got him as my tip for the Rising Star this year. He’s 200cm and super quick.
“(Josh Bruce leaving) opens up that spot for him and he’s the heir apparent.”
King did not play a game in 2019 as he continued his recovery from a torn ACL.
He was taken with pick four in the 2018 National Draft, two selections before his brother Ben who had an excellent year for the Suns.
While Rowell goes into the year as the clear favourite for the Rising Star, the number one pick in the draft hasn’t gone back to back in the award ever.
Carlton midfielder Sam Walsh joined Nick Riewoldt, Brett Deledio and Andrew McGrath as number one selections to win the Rising Star.
