Big-name Geelong recruit Jack Steven has suffered a reported calf injury.
According to AFL.com.au’s Mitch Cleary, Steven tweaked his calf during pre-season training but is still a chance to play in the Cats’ Marsh Community Series opener against Gold Coast on February 22.
Cleary understands the 29-year-old could return to training in the coming days. On-going mental health issues restricted Steven to just seven games for St Kilda in 2019.
Captain Joel Selwood (hamstring), Mitch Duncan (hip and shoulder) and Tom Stewart (groin) are other key Cats currently training away from the main group.
Jake Kolodjashnij (hip) and Mark O’Connor (toe) have also been struck down by injury.
