Collingwood has a pair of star players out of contract and a reportedly tight salary cap situation.
Tim Watson posed the question to Garry Lyon on SEN Breakfast this morning as to who he would choose if he could only keep one of Jordan de Goey or Darcy Moore.
“If (Moore) has a great first six games, he’s going to be hotly pursued I think by other clubs out there. If Jordan de Goey has a brilliant start to the year, he’s going to be big time business as well,” Watson said.
“If you could only sign one of those two players, they’re both pricing themselves out of the picture for Collingwood to retain them both.”
Lyon leaned in the favour of the forward, saying: “I’d go for De Goey”.
“At this stage of the career, he has proven himself to be a match-winner more so than Darcy.”
However, Watson went in the opposite direction.
“I would go Darcy Moore. I’m a little bit concerned about his body, but I’m just as concerned about De Goey’s body and his preparation and that type of thing,” he said.
Both were taken in the top 10 of the 2014 National Draft, with De Goey playing 16 more games to this point.
