New recruit Brad Hill has been named in St Kilda’s six-man leadership group, with Jarryn Geary retained as captain for fourth consecutive season.
Hill and Geary are joined by Tim Membrey, Dylan Roberton, Jack Billings in the player, coach and football staff-voted group.
Despite only being at the club for a number of months, coach Brett Ratten said Hill’s inclusion highlighted the positive impact he’s made at Moorabbin during a small period of time.
"Hill’s selection demonstrates the impact he has made on the group in a short time and is a reflection of how hard he has worked to gain his teammates’ trust and respect,” he said on the club’s website.
Ratten explained the rationale behind including Dylan Roberton despite him missing a majority of the last two years of football.
“Dylan has remained an influential leader in our training and returns to an official role with the knowledge he gained through being part of our coaching group,” he said.
“Seb Ross and Tim Membrey really stepped up last season when Jarryn was out injured and have continued to set a high benchmark on and off the field this pre-season.
“Jack Billings joined the leadership group last year when Dylan Roberton stepped down with his heart issue, and it's young leaders like Jack who are so crucial to our future."
St Kilda opens their Marsh Community Series against Hawthorn at Moorabbin tomorrow night.
