West Coast star Andrew Gaff is expecting players from Victoria and the All-Stars to crack in during Friday night’s State of Origin clash.
Gaff, who replaced sore North Melbourne midfielder Ben Cunnington in Victoria’s squad for the bushfire relief match, is readying himself for a physical and high-scoring encounter under the roof at Marvel Stadium.
“In terms of Friday night, I think it’s going to be on,” Gaff told SEN’s Dwayne’s World.
“I think guys are going to go pretty hard because we’ve only got one Marsh Community game to go after this. I don’t think we have the luxury to coast through these games.
“When you do play these games you want to go as hard as you can and when you’ve got the best of the best involved, it’s pretty hard to take your foot off – I think you get exposed if you do that.
“I think it’s going to be pretty high-scoring. I think when you’ve got the best guys involved and the skills are a little bit better. You’ve got the biggest and the best key forwards going around that are probably going to kick straight.”
Gaff is the only Eagle named in Victoria’s squad with teammates Elliot Yeo and Brad Sheppard winning selection for the All-Stars.
