Gold Coast Suns
Lachie Weller has pleaded with Fremantle to strike a deal with the Gold coast Suns.
The 21-year-old Docker is determined to return home to the Gold Coast this trade period and has urged his current club to get a deal done in order to allow him that comfort.
Weller, who has played 47 games for Freo, spoke candidly on NAB AFL Trade Radio this afternoon.
“Hopefully the deal gets done,” he said.
“I’ve made it pretty clear that I want to go to the Suns. If it’s not now, it’s definitely next year.
“I want to get it done. I’m waiting around passing time.”
He added: “It’s a really good deal they’ve offered Fremantle already. It’s silly if they don’t take it.
“Gold Coast are keen and they’ve given me good word they want it done.”
Speaking of the call he made to Dockers coach Ross Lyon, Weller added: “It was a pretty tough call.
“He was supportive of it all. Things happen and we move, if it doesn’t happen same thing.
“If it doesn’t happen this year, I’ll play out next year and he wont hold any grudges.”
And on the prospect of having to play for the Dockers in 2018: “It would be pretty tough but that’s why I want to get it done now.
“If that does happen I play out my 12 months and move straight back (next year).”
